I'm getting sick of people
I'm on a bit of a rant tonite. I read article after article where bloggers and journalists are basically rubbing their hands together in glee over someone's misfortunes in real estate or development.
Today article was on Tech Crunch Jim Clark Has The Miami Real-Estate Blues
But it's just one in a long line of articles where people seem all too happy to watch investors and developers fail, as if it makes them happier. Don't be happy that real estate investments are failing.
These developers took risks to create homes and vacation spots for all of us. The fact that some appraisers cheated or some lenders broke rules, doesn't mean we should all sit in judgement and rub our hands together and laugh at them. How foolish.
I sat in a restaurant the other day and listened to guys invovled in heating, framing, concrete and electrical work ... they were doing the same thing. Laughing at bad news about a home builder. What are they thinking? They get all their work from those home builders. They need their heads examined.

Steve, I never will understand the happiness that misfortune brings to others. (Though there are some people who have a reputation of dirty dealing, and if they finally get bit in the behind by that, I am not going to shed any tears over it.)
But publicly - it's in poor taste and unprofessional to be happy for someone else's problems.
Steve:
I hope your blogging activity will help your business through these tough times, what will it take to make people like this understand this is serious business that will probably affect us all before it's over?
The only reason why these people take pleasure in watching others fail is because they are too scared to try anything.
In five years, these same people will be despising investors because of their success.
Karen, thanks for the comment and I have to agree that making fun of people who have sales slowing in a down market is in poor taste.
Realtor SEO, this is indeed serious business. Homes for families is a serious business.
Clifford, how right you are. Those who don't take risks think it's great to scoff at those who do, whether they win or lose.
